Work Incentive Planning and Assistance

Careful planning is the key to making the transition from receiving benefits to working successful.

Work Incentive Planning +Assistance (WIPA) projects are an important part of the Social Security Administration's employment strategy for beneficiaries with disabilities.

WIPA services are for people with disabilities who receive either Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or both.

The Social Security Administration has many Work Incentives that may make it possible for you to go to work.

How Benefits To Work Can Help

Community Work Incentive Coordinators (CWICs) offer free workshops on a regular basis. At these Benefits to Work Seminars, we'll give you information about work incentives and resources to make good decisions about work.

A trained CWIC will provide services ranging from basic Information and Referral and Work Incentive education to, in a few cases, collecting information about your work goals, verifying benefits information, analysis of data, explanation of your options, and provision of recommendations about the work incentives that apply to your situation.

There is no cost to beneficiaries for WIPA services.
